local Wine Shops to recommend

If anything there are too many options for places to buy wines in Hong Kong. But in want something different from your local Watson's or supermarket and don't know where to start? I'd go with the ones below.

THE place to find the best France has to offer—Burgundy, Bordeaux, Loire, Jura, Rhone... the list can go on. Particularly strong are the extensive offerings of Burgundy of which they have direct allocation and are the sole distributor in HK: Sylvain Cathiard, Gros Frère et Soeur, Benjamin Leroux, Cecile Tremblay, Anne Gros and more, as well amazing grower champagnes such as Ulysse Collin and Chartogne-Taillet. I never liked champagne until I've tried these. The complete list can be found on their website.

For full disclosure, I work here but all opinions are my own.

cork culture

A very small outfit here in HK but providing good biodynamic and organic wines. They have a well rounded albeit small selection, all the better to save you from that decision fatigue.

I would also recommend reading their blog post regularly, which is both informative and interesting to learn more about natural wines in general.

Schmidt vinothek

The only place in Hong Kong that sells D-A-CH wines (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). They do sell other wines but this is their niche and strength. Whenever I find myself missing Austria and their offerings, I stop by here.

Do pick up a bottle of Deutscher sekt, Mosel Riesling and a Gewürztraminer from Wachau to see for yourself!
